Woa, I really, really like this one. Captures so much of what’s truly important to me about Hermes.
Thank you!
I admit, I saw those on tumblr posting about them and did one for Hekate that I put into a book I’m making of devotionals for her, along with the hymn I wrote.
I’m considering doing it a bit more poetically than I already have though. I think it is a brilliant idea, an idea I admit I shamelessly stole from those around. Thanks to all that share these to encourage others.
When you feel it’s ready, I’d love to read your Adoration for Hekate.
Way to be a trend-setter Sannion. I have to echo your sentiments, it’s pretty cool. When BA has more devotionals, they’ll have some good material waiting now.
W00t! Do I get some kind of nifty medal for that? :)
I’m going to work on a set for Hathor and try to have it done by Valentine’s Day (even though I loathe the holiday).
Oh yes, you really should! The Egyptians had very rich epithets for their gods and none were more diverse and poetic than Hathor’s so you’ll have lots of material to work with. I very much look forward to that!
I’ve been working on one of my own, but I’ve also been fighting a cold and major allergies. :-(
Oh man, I think that’s a great idea – could really show how much more there is to Eros than just stereotype.
That was a fast edit. :-)
I am loving all of these adorations too. Jennifer, I adore the one above for Hermes, and I only just read the one to Eros…truly lovely. I hope folks do more of these.
Thanks. :-) Glad you like it. Hell, I’m glad when anybody likes what I write.
LOL Ruadhan, i know the feeling, believe me! I really did like it. I don’t have any particular devotion to Eros, but one of the things that I find so inspiring about the Adorations is that through reading them…not even praying them, but just reading through, i was able to sense something of Him. I really appreciate that.

This is wonderful–thank you for doing it!
Wow, I get kudos from P. Sufenas Virius Lupus! Thank you, sir.
I must give credit to http://www.hethert.org/ The Domain of Het-Hert which lists over a hundred titles and epithets of Hathor. The challenge was to chose those that seemed to “speak to me”.
I’m glad I did do it. I need to print this out and use it in my ritual to Her on Valentine’s Day.
Yeah, I really, really liked that one too.
Thank you, Sannion. I’m glad you enjoyed my devotional and hope She does too. :-)
[...] Sannion has started a trend that is sweeping the modern polytheistic scene! And now, I’m jumping on the bandwagon as well. [...]
I especially love the adorations to Dionysos and Hermes. I couldn’t resist adding my adorations to Hera:
http://aldrin-ft.blogspot.com/2012/01/adorations-to-hera.html
Nice. Hera needs more love, and I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that.
Loved it! Just added it to the list!
Hera totally needs more love. Your adorations are great.
i love love love the new additions. I’m so very glad to see one to Hera and P. Sufenus, i was hoping you’d do one to Antinous. :)
I suspected at some point I’d have to, whether I wanted to or not; but, since several extant texts that I’ve already written have had a long litany of this type in them, it felt a bit repetitive to do another one…But, I’m glad I’ve at least taken a stab with it. Like I said, a work in progress…

These are pure poetry. I have no words. I was ridiculously excited to see Sarenth Odinsson’s offering for Anubis. I don’t often see things like this written for him and was going to do one of my own, (still will, but have no blog to post it on) and his words were just perfect. These are all amazing. Hail to the Gods!
Thank you very much Angela. I am looking forward to seeing yours as well!
Thank you Sannion for setting this trend and giving me fuel for the fire. Gods bless!
[...] to guess from the subject line of this entry, one of the two texts I wrote for Hadrian today is yet another adoration post (thank you once again for starting the trend, Sannion!), to accompany the one I wrote for Antinous [...]

Angela, would you be willing to contribute these to the cynocephalic deities devotional volume that Bibliotheca Alexandrina is producing? I’m one of the editors, and we could still use some more pieces for it…These would be lovely to have, and anything further for some of the not-as-often-heard-from/of deities (like Anupet) would be even better.
If so, please just send them to cynocephalidevotional@gmail.com with your contributor info, and all shall be well! :)
I’m sorry, but these cannot be contributed.
Those are amazing!
Thank you!
Oh, Sannion. I have a story that is just for you, my friend. A friend of mine and I were having a girls’ day out. It was evening and we were sitting in our local Starbucks, sitting at the bar and looking out the window, talking about assorted miscellaneous subjects. Out of nowhere, a group of young men come up from outside, making their way through the city. One of them jumped up onto the ledge just outside the window and waved to us. We waved back. Then he turned. He had, hanging out of the zipper of his pants, an exaggerated, long phallus in black silicone. He waved it to us, even beat it against the window briefly while his friends took pictures of him doing this. I blinked at him, staring at it, while my friend gave him a thumbs up. Then they saluted us and continued on their way. The moment they wandered off, my friend and I both looked at each other and both of us immediately associated it with Dionysos.
Great story! Io Dionysos Orthos!

What ? No one did the Aphrodite bit ? Shame…
I thought that was odd, myself.
Right ?
I’m exhausted lately, but if no one does in the months to come I may try. If the Great Aphrodite doesn’t have her hymn, the world will stop moving ^^
Here’s one of Khonsu I did. :-)
http://dua-khonsu.blogspot.com/2012/02/adorations-khonsu.html
I also made one for Mut:

:)
And one for Herakles:
http://dua-khonsu.blogspot.com/2012/02/adorations-herakles.html
These are really great! And I’m loving both your Herakles and Theban Triad blogs! Good job!
Thanks! :) I’m glad you liked them! And thanks for linking them up top.
It was only after I made the Herakles blog that I realized both of mine had associations with Thebes, though different ones (Hellenic and Kemetic). LOL
Hey, I came across a set for Freyr & Freya by chance!
I thought you might want to see them:

Freya: http://marispai.huginnpress.com/2012/01/28/adorations-of-freya
Those are astounding! And for very awesome deities. (Back when I flirted with Heathenry, before realizing that Dionysos was my god, I was drawn to Odin and Frey.)

I left a comment on your blog, but it seemed like there was a glitch. Not sure if it went though. In case, I just wanted to say that I loved these! :-)
